That Front Porch Feeling

Here at The Thirsty Muse it would be easy to do what so many other “drink blogs” are doing. I could do reviews, share some recipes for great tasting cocktails, and I could even do a “beer of the week” type of thing. However, I am looking for more. As you know, I’m not a big fan of reviewing drinks. There are countless sites that are better for that (Beer Advocate comes to mind). I don’t get excited about recipes…there are smartphone apps that are great at that too (Mixologist is a good one). Though, sharing a favorite every now and then with a photo and why I made it is fun.

So where might I be going with this? I’m looking for a quest. No, I’m not traveling to 193 countries to share my score here (Chris Guillebeau – been there, done that). Though, traveling to 193 breweries would be fun (that is for another time).

The bottom line, is I want to share great stories with all of you. I want you to be excited about what I am doing. So excited in fact, that you share this site with all your friends. The core of this site is that I am (in the abstract sense) experiencing why we have raised a glass for centuries, and why that is so enjoyable. After all, who doesn’t like a great drink on the front porch with people you love?

Some things I am working on:

  • Interviews with industry professionals
  • Visits to vineyards, breweries, distilleries, etc
  • Mini quests (10 beers in 10 days, bourbon with friends, art and booze, etc etc)
  • And many more

I have many ideas and concepts, but many are too grand for my budget at this time. There are things planned for this summer I can’t wait to share with you. None of this is worthwhile without you though. Please share this site with your friends, subscribe via email, make a comment every now and then, send me an email…whatever. The Thirsty Muse needs you, and she is thirsty for great booze, great fun, and great friends. We all want that front porch feeling, let’s make this site the online version of that front porch.
